Customer Build: Honza Schneider's 1993 Honda CR250R Restoration

Posted by Nathon Verdugo on Aug 17th 2026

There's restoring an old motocross bike, and then there's this.

This 1993 Honda CR250R comes to us from the Czech Republic, where Specbolt customer @schneider_honza took his 30 year old CR and rebuilt it with the kind of attention to detail we love seeing.

The build started with a complete teardown and restoration of the chassis and engine. The frame was repaired and refinished in the factory white color, while the engine was completely rebuilt using the original cylinder and cases with HRC-inspired components and details.

The suspension was completely reworked and anodized with DLC and Cerakote finishes. Gold Excel rims were laced to machined Envy hubs. The rider controls are managed with Renthal bars and grips, ARC levers, and Pro Circuit triple clamps. A JSV expansion chamber and Pro Circuit Ti-6 titanium silencer give the ol 93 her bark. Hinson clutch, Braking brakes, HRC-style seat, carbon fiber components, and a whole list of custom machined and restored pieces. Even the OG brake-line fittings we restored and Cerakoted rather than just replaced.

As Honza puts it: "Details like these count"

We couldn't agree more.

Finishing the Build with Nickel Würks

When you put this much work into a restoration, the hardware matters!

The CR 250R was finished using one of our Specbolt Nickel Würks Restoration Kits, replacing decades-old OEM hardware with fresh nickel-plated fasteners that complement the factory look while giving the finished bike the crisp, detailed, factory appearance a build like this deserves.

Our restoration kits are built specifically for your year, make, and model, individually bagged and labeled for placement, taking all the guesswork and searching for that right bolt out of the equation.

A 1993 CR250R Reimagined

What we love most about this build is that it's essentially a true-to-era build with a few updates that make this thing as fun to look at as it is to ride.

The unmistakable character of Honda's early '90s two-stroke remains, but nearly every component has been restored, refined, or thoughtfully upgraded. The white frame, red seat, gold wheels, carbon fiber, and hand-welded expansion chamber makes the finished bike feel somewhere between a period factory machine and modern works build.

And tucked throughout it all is fresh Nickel Würks hardware.

This is exactly why we make restoration kits.

These bikes deserve to be rebuilt, ridden and obsessed over for another generation.

Huge thanks to @schneider_honza in the Czech Republic for choosing Specbolt and for sharing the build with us.
